Insects of the Underground's, MInd Matter is Aaron Calhoun's second album. The name change represents a creative change of direction as well as an effort to break the mold of Austin's (and the Nations) singer/songwriter stereotypes. Why should a writer be relegated to writing the same music year after year? Especially when the artist feels called to expand their creative horizons.

The album's title is a statement on thought. What you think has life, or what you think becomes your life's living matter. To avoid to much confusion I changed the name from alam al mithal, to it's translated meaning, mind matter.

Creating the album took place in several stages. First I did some rough recordings and sketches with musician friends Brent Juve, Lenny Ashcraft and Max Murphy.  Step two was heading to the studio to see those ideas out and to let what ever magic happen that may.

The final players on the album were: Cole El-Saleh on keyboards. Nina Singh on drums. Robby Gjersoe on guitar a lap steel and Michael Hynes on bass/engineering and final mixing.

I hope you enjoy the album and listen with an open heart. A third album is currently in production so stayed tuned for the next part of the journey!
