Aaron Calhoun was born on October 8, 1970 in Memphis, Tennessee. His early years were spent in Tennessee, Kentucky, Alaska and finally Kansas City, where he would spend the majority of his youth. Though difficult at times, moving afforded him the opportunity to explore a variety of American cities and cultures.

Mostly playing the outsider in his new towns, Aaron took a strong interest in music. It was here that he would find his escape, inspiration, and release. Dreams of playing and writing evaded him until the age of twenty-one, the year he bought his first guitar. He spent endless obsessive hours mastering his instrument, and satisfying his drive to create. A self taught player, he learned to play by listening to his favorite bands. More importantly, he developed his own voice, writing original compositions rich in meaning, and gave birth to his unique and versatile lyrical style.

There are currently two full albums available: Aaron Calhoun's Smoke and Ash and The Insects of the Underground's, Mind Matter. A third album is currently in production.
